Baptism and confirmation classes for adults

Primarily adults attend private confirmation classes with the pastor from ones local parish area or the pastor in international work. After the confirmation classes it is possible - but not mandatory - to become a full member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland through baptism and/or confirmation.

The curriculum consists of study meetings where you will discuss or work on the main themes of Christianity, go throught the Bible and the Catechism with the pastor. In addition, you will take part in a couple of parish events.

Confirmation takes place in a common celebration of the parish, the Mass. The date of the confirmation is agreed with the pastor. If you have not been baptised, a baptismal celebration is held instead of or in addition to the confirmation.

You can ask a pastor in your local parish about adult confirmation or contact the pastor of international work, please see contact details below.

Check also our events and activities - you are welcome to join whether you were a Church member or not.
